# Quick Start Guide: Your First 10 Minutes with Folki
Last Updated: January 26, 2026
Level: Beginner
Reading Time: 6 Minutes
Welcome to the future of e-commerce data. Folki is designed to update your catalog from the "Keyword Era" (2015) to the "Agentic Era" (2026).
This guide is your critical path to success. By the end of this tutorial, you will have fully enriched your first product and synced verified structured data to your live storefront.
Prerequisites
Before we begin, ensure you have:
1. Admin Access to your Shopify or WooCommerce store.
2. A Product Catalog (even just 5 items is fine).
3. Manufacturer Data: It is helpful (but not required) if your products are from known brands (Sony, Nike, Bosch). If you are selling white-label goods, ensure you have a PDF manual or tech sheet available to upload.
Step 1: Connect Your Catalog
Folki acts as a "Sidecar" to your main store. We read your data, improve it, and send it back. We do *not* mess with your inventory counts, prices, or orders.
Option A: Shopify (Recommended)
1. Log in to your Folki Dashboard.
2. Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
3. Click Connect Shopify. This will redirect you to the Shopify App permission screen.
4. Permissions We Ask For:
- `read_products`: To scan your catalog.
- `write_products`: To save the new Metafields and Tags.
- `write_script_tags` (optional): To inject the JSON-LD schema automatically.
Option B: WooCommerce
1. In your WordPress Admin, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > REST API.
2. Click Add Key.
3. Permissions: Read/Write.
4. Copy the `Consumer Key` and `Consumer Secret` into Folki.
Option C: Custom Import (CSV)
See our [Importing via CSV](/docs/import-csv) guide if you are on Magento, BigCommerce, or a custom stack.
Step 2: The "Thin Content" Health Check
Once connected, Folki initiates a Catalog Scan.
- *Time to complete:* ~2 minutes for 1,000 products.
Navigate to the Products tab. You will see a "Data Health Score" (0-100) next to each item.
Identifying the "Invisible" Products
Filter your list by Score < 50.
These are products that likely have:
- Generic titles (e.g., "Black Office Chair").
- Missing attributes (No dimensions, no materials, no warranty info).
- Zero citations.
Goal: Pick one "Low Health" product that is a high-priority item for your business.
Step 3: Launching the Agent (Enrichment)
1. Click on your chosen product to enter the Detail View.
2. Locate the Enrichment Panel on the right side.
3. Select Mode:
- Fast Scan: Checks major retailer sites (Amazon/BestBuy). Good for basic specs.
- Deep Research (Recommended): Hunts for the original PDF manual on the manufacturer's site. Slower (2 mins) but highest trust.
4. Click "Start Enrichment".
What is happening now?
You can watch the Live Logs window.
- *Agent:* Searching Google for "Model XYZ datasheet filetype:pdf".
- *Agent:* Found matching document on `bosch-home.com`.
- *Agent:* Parsing page 4... found "Noise Level: 42dB".
- *Agent:* Cross-referencing with `homedepot.com`.
Step 4: The Human Review
AI is powerful, but you are the pilot.
Once the agent finishes, you will see a Comparison View.
- Left Side (Current): Your empty attributes.
- Right Side (Proposed): The Agent's findings.
Your Tasks:
1. Check the Green Dots: These are "High Confidence" matches. Hover over them to see the source URL.
2. Resolve Red Flags: If the agent found conflicting data (e.g., "Weight: 5kg" vs "Weight: 5.5kg"), pick the correct one or manually edit it.
3. Click "Approve & Save".
**Pro Tip:** You can upload your own PDF manual in the Files tab if the agent failed to find it. This instantly boosts the Confidence Score to 100%.
Step 5: Sync to Store (Going Live)
Saving in Folki is safe; it stays in our database. To push it to the world:
1. Click the Sync button in the top header.
2. Confirm Sync Scope:
- Update Metafields? (Yes)
- Inject Schema? (Yes)
3. Click "Execute Sync".
Verification
Go to your live product page on your store.
- View Source: Search for `application/ld+json`. You should see a large block of structured data that wasn't there before.
- The validator: Run your URL through [Schema.org Validator](https://validator.schema.org/). You should see rich "Product" schema with `additionalProperty` fields for every spec you approved.
Troubleshooting
"No Data Found" Error
- Cause: Product title is too vague (e.g., "Premium Headphones").
- Fix: Rename the product in Folki (or your store) to include the Brand and Model Number (e.g., "Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones").
"Sync Failed"
- Cause: API Token expired or permissions changed.
- Fix: Go to Settings > Integrations and click "Reconnect".
Conclusion & Next Steps
You have successfully bridged the gap between a "Dumb" product page and an "Intelligent" entity.
What's Next?
1. [Define Spec Templates](/docs/specs) to tell the agent *exactly* which niche attributes to hunt for.
2. Use Bulk Actions to enrich 50 products at a time.
3. Monitor your [Products](/docs/products) to watch your "Enrichment Score" climb.
